One Question to Boost Your Team’s Trust

Trust is one of those things everyone says they value, but few leaders actively test. We send surveys, we ask for “honest feedback,” but when the stakes are high, people still hold back.
At your next team meeting, skip the generic “How’s everyone doing?” and instead ask:
“When was the last time you felt safe to challenge me?”
If you get thoughtful answers, you are doing something right.
If you get awkward silence… that is the real data.
Leaders who invite this kind of candor build teams that innovate faster, solve problems sooner, and stick together when pressure mounts.
