For years, I believed in radical transparency.

I was wrong.

This week, in a management training, we talked about trust. One participant shared that their team had told them they lacked transparency.

So we dug into it together.

Picture this. You learn your department will be restructured.

Do you tell your team today? They will worry for weeks and cannot do anything about it.

Do you wait until you have every detail? By then, the rumours will have done the talking.

The answer sits somewhere in between. But one thing is fully in your hands: the process.

Who is involved. Who decides. When. What comes next.

And once the decision is made, you tell them. With the next steps, even if you do not know the outcome yet.

People can live with uncertainty. Silence is harder.

What do you share first when you do not have all the answers?
