How do you help your team think better?

In my recent Leading Others workshop, a manager shared: “I realized I spend more time telling people what to do than helping them think.”


That is the essence of leadership through coaching. The GROW model, introduced by Sir John Whitmore, provides a simple but powerful framework:


  • Goal – what do you want to achieve?

  • Reality – where are you now?

  • Options – what could you do?

  • Way forward – what will you commit to?
