Why me?

That was the first question that came to mind when I learned I was losing my job.
If you’ve ever been impacted by a job suppression or transformation, you know how it feels. Shock, anger, fear, and resistance—they all come into play.
But here’s the thing: as a professional change leader, I’ve led large-scale transformations for over a decade. And every time, I’ve seen people go through the same emotional journey.
It’s called the Change Curve (yes, even change experts go through it).
Denial: “This won’t happen to me. It’s just affecting others.”
Anger: “How could they do this to me after all my hard work?”
Fear: “How will I manage financially? What’s next for me?”
Resistance: “I’ll just do the bare minimum until I’m out.”
The truth? These emotions are normal. But staying stuck in them won’t serve you.
The best tip I ever got?
👉 Accept the emotions, but don’t let them define your response. The faster you move toward acceptance and action, the faster you regain control.
For me, that meant reframing the situation—seeing it as an opportunity rather than just a setback.
💡 If you’re going through a similar transition, remember:
You will get through this.
Your next chapter might be better than you expect.
How you respond now will shape what comes next.
Have you ever been through a major job change? How did you navigate it?
