Last week, I led a special workshop focused on "psychological safety." Wondering what that is? It's all about feeling safe to share your ideas and questions in a team. You might want to check out Amy Edmondson's talk on this topic; she explains it really well. https://lnkd.in/dJttAYB
In any team, it's normal to ask: Can I be myself here? 🤔 Is it okay to admit I don't know something?🤔 Do we celebrate new ideas, or are we afraid to make mistakes? 🤔 We looked into these questions, guided by Timothy R. Clark's idea of 4 key steps to making a team feel safe and supported.
Our 2-hour journey was split into two: the first half dedicated to the sanctuary within our team, and the latter to how we radiate that safety externally. With 16 statements probing the depths of our internal dynamics and 8 targeted questions for stakeholders, we uncovered invaluable insights, and had fun exploring the conversational habits to avoid (dropped call, littering…) 🌟
💬To my fellow project and team managers, are you finding it hard to get everyone to join in and share their ideas? Perhaps, a workshop on psychological safety is the key you’ve been searching for. 🗝️
PS: Stay tuned for more reflections on how heart work can elevate your team beyond the ordinary.
