This weekend, I had the pleasure of delivering a workshop at the Toastmasters District Conference in Malta—and what an energizing experience it was!

We explored one of the most underestimated leadership skills: influence.

Not manipulation. Not authority.

Real, intentional influence.

We worked with four core influencing styles:

🔹 Persuading – appealing to logic and data

🔹 Asserting – standing firm with clarity

🔹 Bridging – building trust and alignment

🔹 Inspiring – connecting to purpose and values

Most participants could easily identify their natural style.

The real challenge—and opportunity—was in practicing the styles they don’t often use.

Because in high-stakes conversations, relying on just one approach isn’t enough.

💡 Great leaders flex. They adapt their communication to fit the moment and the audience.

Thanks to everyone who joined the session for your openness, insights, and energy!

What’s your default style—and which one do you want to strengthen next?
